Maurizio Michi is a Milanese and NYC restaurateur who has catered to the world’s most high profile clientele from fashion designers, film stars, musicians, and artists to business executives and royals.

His journey began in his parents’ world famous restaurant in Milan, Al Girarrosto da Cesarina, where he learned cuisine from his mother.

After operating the family business for many years, his passion led him to Manhattan where he first managed BiCE (his aunt’s namesake) and then opened

the critically acclaimed Maurizio Trattoria.

 

Eventually leaving NYC for Chicago, he opened Sofi Italian in 2013, which has been a South Loop staple for the last thirteen years.

 

Now with more than 60 years of experience, Maurizio has received numerous awards for his exceptional cuisine, including consecutive years on the Forbes Best

NY Restaurants list for Maurizio Trattoria and named Top 13 Best Italian Restaurants in Chicago for Sofi.
